Novartis Institutes also operatez a facilityin Shanghai, where the Massachusetts delegatio n will visit. "We plan on hosting the delegationm for some conversation about our facilityy in Shanghai and the importance of that in China, Lockwood said. They complained about a lack of a coordinate d state effort that left business and university leaders working on theirr own to forgesuch ties. Patrick appearsa to be listening, according to Charlesx Yelen, a consultant with the , a quasi-public organizatioh helping to organizethe trip.
"This trip is intendes to be the first in a series of stepxs that the administration is going to be takinfg tostrengthen Massachusetts/China relationships," Yelen "We view this as Some attendees are also using the trip to follows up on earlier efforts they began on thei r own. Tom Sommer, president of the medica l device trade group made two previous trade show visits to China over thelast year. "It will give us the opportunitgy to strengthen relationships there and have accesato high-ranking government officials," Sommer said. Businessee and executives traveling with Patrick will be payinvg their own way forthe trip.
